Van Cleef & Arpels Dragonfly Brooches |
They were created by Van Cleef & Arpels in their signature dragonfly theme, and were a gift from the Prince of Wales to his wife.
The brooches, or rather clips, are made of white gold. One of them is studded with blue sapphires, the other – diamonds. They are designed as a tribute to the lightness and femininity of Nature.
The Duchess wearing the clips in 2010 and 2012 |
Because of the excellent craftsmanship and beautiful design, the dragonflies’ wings seem to be in motion. It’s almost as if they just stopped by to have a little rest and will take off at any time.
The Duchess has worn the brooches only a few times, including for Sandringham Flower Show in 2010, and a visit Channel Islands in 2012. Camilla usually dons them with blue outfits. Usually, she wears them together, one just below the other.
